BriBuddy helps students find study partners, collaborate in groups, organize tasks and sessions, and communicate. This policy explains what information we collect and how we handle it when you use our website, mobile application, and related services.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide, including your name, email address, school, profile description, subjects, availability, study preferences, privacy settings, tasks, session details, messages, attachments, support requests, and safety reports. Passwords are stored as secure hashes and are never readable by BriBuddy administrators.
We also collect technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as device and push-notification tokens, IP address, browser or device type, authentication activity, application logs, and timestamps associated with your activity.
How we use information
- Provide accounts, profiles, matching, messaging, groups, calls, reminders, calendars, and progress features.
- Personalize study-buddy suggestions using the subjects, school, schedule, and study preferences you choose to share.
- Deliver service emails, in-app notifications, and push notifications according to your settings.
- Protect students, investigate reports, prevent abuse, enforce our terms, and maintain platform integrity.
- Understand aggregate product usage and improve reliability and accessibility.
When information is shared
Your public profile information may be shown to other eligible users for matching. Messages and group content are shared with their intended participants. We may use service providers for hosting, email, storage, push notifications, error monitoring, and similar infrastructure under appropriate data-protection obligations.
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect a person from harm, to investigate fraud or abuse, or as part of a business transfer with suitable safeguards.
Your choices and rights
You may edit your profile, change privacy and notification settings, remove device tokens, block users, and delete your account from the app. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export personal information and to object to certain processing.
Retention and security
We retain information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the service, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and protect users. Account deletion removes or anonymizes information unless retention is legally required or necessary for safety and fraud prevention. We use access controls, encryption in transit, password hashing, private file storage, logging, and other safeguards, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.
Children and international use
BriBuddy is not directed to children under 13. If local law requires parental or school consent for a younger student, the service may only be used with that valid consent. Information may be processed in countries where our providers operate, subject to applicable safeguards.
